How noon and Amazon.ae differ for a new UAE seller: documents, fulfilment, buyers, ads and fees, and a simple rule for choosing where to start.
If you sell everyday products to UAE shoppers and want the quickest first orders, start on noon. If your product is branded, priced above the impulse range, or you plan to sell across the GCC or wider later, start on Amazon.ae. Most sellers who last end up on both, but starting on both at once usually means doing neither properly for the first three months.
That rule is a starting point, not a law. The four questions below are what actually decide it.
Both marketplaces ask for a valid UAE trade licence, an Emirates ID or passport of the owner, a UAE bank account in the business name and a VAT certificate if you are registered. The details differ, and they change, so check the live seller-registration page before you apply rather than relying on any blog, including this one.
In practice the trade licence is the blocker for most first-time sellers, not the marketplace. If the licence activity does not cover the goods you plan to sell, sort that first. Our noon documents guide walks through the full list.
noon is a UAE and Saudi home-grown marketplace with heavy promotion during sale events like White Friday and Ramadan. It suits price-led everyday categories: home, beauty, mobile accessories, kitchen, toys.
Amazon.ae buyers tend to search with more intent and compare reviews before they buy. Branded products with good images, a proper listing and early reviews do well there, and a brand registered with Amazon unlocks better listing pages and protection against hijackers.
Both offer a fulfilment service where they store, pack and deliver for you: Fulfilled by Amazon on Amazon.ae and Fulfilled by noon on noon. Fulfilment by the marketplace usually wins the Prime or Express badge, which is where most of the sales go. The cost is storage and per-item fees, and stock sitting in their warehouse ties up cash.
Shipping yourself keeps control and cash, but you have to meet the delivery promise every time. Late shipments hurt account health on both platforms, and on Amazon poor account health is the most common route to a suspension.
New listings on either marketplace rarely sell from organic placement alone in the first weeks. Budget for sponsored product ads from day one. Amazon ads are more mature and give better search-term data; noon ads are simpler and cheaper to start with.
Do not run ads on a weak listing. Fix the title, the first image, the bullet points and the price first. An ad sends traffic to the page; the page still has to convert it.
Both charge a referral fee as a percentage of the selling price, and the rate depends on category. On top come fulfilment fees if you use their warehouse, storage fees, and on Amazon a monthly selling plan fee. Rates change, so pull the current fee card for your exact category and work out the margin on one unit before you commit stock.
A quick test: if the product does not still leave a profit after the referral fee, fulfilment fee, ad cost per sale and a few returns, it will not be fixed by selling more of it.
Start on one platform, get ten to twenty listings right, learn the ad numbers, then add the second. The listings, images and keyword work carry over, so the second marketplace takes a fraction of the time.
ADQONIC sets up Amazon.ae or noon seller accounts with five optimised listings for AED 599, both marketplaces with ten listings and a Shopify store for AED 1,499. Prices are on the pricing page, and you see the listing drafts before you pay.
Everything above is work we do at a published price. Nothing here is gated — if you do it yourself off this guide, that is a fair outcome.
