Why UAE video verifications get rejected, what to film, and the live-video-call route that most businesses pass when the recording keeps failing.
The single most common mistake is recording a second video immediately. Open the profile in the Google Maps app and look for the Review issues notice — it names the actual reason. Most second attempts fail because the business fixed something Google never objected to.
Attempts are limited. One prepared attempt is worth more than three rushed ones.
Three things, in this order: that the business physically exists, that you are connected to it, and that it is a real trading operation rather than a listing created to rank. Everything you film should answer one of those three.
A continuous unedited take is required. Filming a pre-recorded file and uploading it, or stopping and restarting, reads as an attempt to hide something.
Start outside with the street and any building name or number visible, then the Makani plate if there is one, then the entrance, then walk inside without stopping the recording. Inside, show the working area, your tools or stock, and then a document with the business name on it held steady in frame — an invoice, a permit, a bill.
Finish by showing you can access the place: unlocking a door, opening a shutter, using a till or a desk that is clearly yours. That access shot carries more weight than most people expect.
Older Deira buildings, shared shopfronts and flexi-desk addresses give the reviewer nothing to anchor to. If your unit has no signage, film the building entrance and the street sign first so the address is provable, then move inside. A tower unit filmed only from the inside looks identical to any other room in Dubai.
A PO box, a virtual office or a mailbox service is an automatic rejection. No amount of filming fixes that one.
Do not edit categories, hours, the name, the address or anything else while verification is pending. Edits during review are known to restart the process, and support agents have refused to help on profiles with recent changes.
Typical review times: three to five days when it goes smoothly, seven to ten days commonly, and two weeks or more if extra review is triggered. Silence is not rejection.
This is not the end of the road, and it is not an error. It appears deliberately after repeated failures to move you off self-recorded video and onto a human.
Go to Google’s verification status tool, work through it to the end, and use the Contact us link. Say explicitly that you would like live video call verification. Then expect two or three business days of silence — that is the normal wait, not a refusal.
A human joins and it is a conversation, not a fixed questionnaire. They typically want to see two or three of: signage, branded equipment or a vehicle, business cards or printed material, client invoices, a utility bill in your name, the exterior with a street sign, or you unlocking the premises.
For a service-area business with no shop, the strongest thing you have is the work itself. Google’s verification specialists accept an actual job being performed during the call. A technician can open something up and test it on camera. That costs nothing and it is more convincing than any document.
Lay everything out before the call starts. Keep answers short and factual. Agents can be brusque — do not argue and do not over-explain.
Before the first attempt: the business name identical everywhere — listing, invoices, WhatsApp Business, any social page; a phone number that is actually answered; the profile complete with categories, services, hours, description and photos; and something online with the same name and area for Google to corroborate against.
A thin profile with no website, no social page and no photos looks like a fake one, and it is judged as one.
We do setup, optimisation and verification guidance. We do not promise Google will verify a listing, because that decision is Google’s and anybody who guarantees it is selling you something they do not control. What we do commit to is staying on it through the escalation rather than disappearing after the first rejection.
Everything above is work we do at a published price. Nothing here is gated — if you do it yourself off this guide, that is a fair outcome.
Built, categorised and submitted, and we stay on it through verification.
Shared shopfronts, unnumbered buildings and Naif addresses, handled properly.
Monthly work on the profile, the citations and the pages that feed the map pack.
Real monthly ranges, and how to tell if a cheap retainer is doing anything.
The three things Google weighs, and the profile fields most businesses get wrong.
A simple rule for choosing, plus realistic starting budgets for the UAE.
